Hi! Do I need to re-like you on Facebook, because I would not want to de-like you first. Please don't make me tweet. My wife and I saw Macbeth at the San Francisco Opera way back in the day. We typically dressed for Halloween in those days joined thousands at the street party in the Castro that year dressed as the original power couple. My wife had blood all over her hands and I had a dagger dangling before me. Good times.

From the get go, BLO has always made an effort to emphasize my relationship with them as a person, as opposed to a consumer or some marketing target, and have always been willing to give me the shirt off their back....or rack....or boxes, or where ever they keep their shirts. That doesn't sound too forced, does it? I mean, I really like the fact that that Boston Lyric Opera is in Boston, and the idea of outdoor opera is, for me, an irresistible idea -- but I can't give that as a reason, because it sounds a bit too ingenuous -- if not worse.
ReplyDeleteLove how BLO promotes opera to the entire community; the arts are for EVERYONE regardless of income, ethnicity, social status, etc. Bravo to BLO for supporting cultural literacy, awareness and enjoyment to all.

ReplyDeleteI loved the recent collaboration between the BLO and Boston Landmarks Orchestra at the Hatch Shell! Bringing opera and fantastic music to the public in English was great. Thank you for furthering opera's future!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about BLO: that they had the foresight to offer a teen opera intensive this past April to get kids interested in opera. My daughter LOVED the class!
